National Association of Math Circles

The National Association of Math Circles (NAMC) provides resources and support for Math Circles and other similar informal mathematics education programs. We aid in the creation and sustainability of Math Circle programs, through the development and sharing of the resources for Math Circle leaders, as well as the development of a national network to deepen our knowledge of best practices related to Math Circles. NAMC primary programs include Math Circle - Mentorship and Partnership grant program (MC-MAP), Math Circle Workshops and Conferences, and AMS/MSRI Math Circle Library.

The National Math Festival is returning to Washington, D.C. April 22, 2017

The 2017 National Math Festival is a free, public event organized by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in cooperation with the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath).

The Festival runs from 10am till 7pm on Saturday, April 22 in the Convention Center in Washington, DC.

The Festival comprises more than 80 unique events -- for very young children through adults -- including performances, demos, games, puzzles, mathletic events -- and dozens of lectures on the playful side of math, and many different applications of math, from eyesight to drag racing to DNA modeling to the jazz of physics, to epidemiology and much more!

For those who can't come to DC, there is a growing, curated collection of recreational math resources at More Math! In addition, we anticipate there will be math-related programs at dozens of science museums around the country during the month of April, which of course is Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month.

MSRI is proud to join AMS, AWM, MAA, NAM, SACNAS, and SIAM in promoting awareness of mathematics through programs including National Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month, More Math! and the National Math Festival.

At the 2015 National Math Festival, more than 20,000 people came together around Washington, D.C.’s National Mall to experience upwards of 70 mathcentric activities, including performances, interactive exhibits, and lectures, all designed to inspire appreciation for the importance, beauty and fun of math. NAMC students and instructors had a ton of fun in 2015 and we are looking forward to the 2017 event! Stay tuned for more information, http://nationalmathfestival.org .
