The Great Popcorn Prank

Amanda Serenevy took the lead in developing this circle session on The Great Popcorn Prank for the 2011 Circle on the Road workshop.

Abstract: What would it take to fill this room with popcorn? Join us as we interpret this question, make wild guesses, estimate dimensions, create formulas, design experiments, collect data, and debate the reasonableness of various answers.

Audience: 4th through 6th graders are the ideal age. Teachers also fit.

Apprentices: Judith Covington, Alex Zivkovic

A student hand out for the activity and a lesson plan are attached.
